Dear Avril,

You were quite the 'artiste' today with the magnadoodle! you drew a fish that actually looked like a fish, and then i drew eyes and a mouth and you completed the smiley face by drawing the head and nose! you also showed some flair, very meticulously drawing points and then using a bug stacker (magnet inside) to add some shading effects... too bad they weren't on paper so i could have saved them!
Dear Avril,

We missed you sooooo much while we were away! i was moved to tears thinking about you while Lou and I were talking about our kids. I missed your hugs and your laughs and "Daddy, readabook. ok, what's next?" We had a great time of course, and I'm looking forward to the summer when i can take you to the beach and we can swim and play in the waves. Your cough got quite bad while we were gone and Auntie and Jerome had to take you to the doctor, we're so lucky we had them to take care of you! It seems to be getting a bit better, but we were very worried when we found out in Mexico that you had to be taken out of daycare :(

It was amazing to come back and hear the change in your voice - you've discovered your "R"s! It's now Dora (not Dola) and it's Cooper (not Coopah)!

happy new year!

Dear Avril,

We had quite a great christmas holiday! i was fortunate to be off for almost 3 weeks (minus a couple of monday night shifts and we got to spend so much time together!

Your mom and I braved the cold and slushy wet snow/rain that was falling for the santa claus parade. mom brought hot chocolate and we shivered as the floats went by. I think you took to the guy in the dog costume; santa was sort of a non-event and anticlimactic as he whizzed by in a tiny sleigh.

We did so much visiting over the holidays it was exhausting and almost had to catch my breath after the holidays were over. Grandpa ('Papa') and Grandma came down to visit and you really enjoyed having them down, always asking after them when they weren't right there and wanting to show them your bears, doggies, etc.

Christmas morning was so much fun i forgot to take any photos! Grandma gave us a video camera thought, so i got to film you opening some of your presents, which you just loved doing.

You had a blast on new year's eve - you and mazlyn chased each other around (which you remembered today and asked about!)

Your speech is now unbelievably coherent and thoughtful and your memory seems limitless. You know your abc's by heart (with coaching from mom) and you can sing the whole 'twinkle twinkle little star' song by yourself. you had a very cute moment just sitting there singing by yourself.
